Heads-up: Turf needs at least 100 mm of decent topsoil (150 mm over poor or compacted subgrade). Loose topsoil settles by ~20%, so the 100 mm you spread becomes ~80 mm after firming. Why it matters: Thin topsoil = shallow roots = brown lawn in the first dry summer.
